With great pictures of the details on the actual jeep to be modeled, this was a fun cake, with a lot of time spent to put all of those details on. Its a model of the groom's actual jeep and a complete surprise to him. A Jeep Wrangler with custom rims.
Inspiration comes from many things, candles, books, cake magazines, Christmas ornaments, etc. The Cake Central magazine is always good for ideas, styles, and themes from amazingly talented cakers. This one was inspired by several Christmas themed cakes in this month's issue, hopefully I will have occasion to make a few more.
This is a white chocolate cake with alternating swiss meringue butter cream and dark chocolate ganache fillings. The cake is covered with fondant, airbrushed, then the hills layered on one by one and airbrushed again after each.
This sweet little baby shower cake was a spice cake with maple buttercream filling. Classic Pooh tiles on the sides of the cake made from fondant, hand molded and edged. They're 2 dimensional but popping off the tile a little, so almost 3D. Eeyore on top is fondant/gumpaste and entirely edible.
This cake was done in dedication to my Aunt Diane who lost the fight with cancer last year. She was an amazing woman, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, author of childrens books, storyteller, self appointed educator of condoms at each family reunion. The cake show was put on by the Knox County Public Library so I thought it fitting to incorporate this.

Congratulations to this young man and all he achieved in his Boy Scout Eagle ranking. The patches around the cake represent some of his favorite activities and the mountain trail the path to get there.
By request I made this roasted little turkey. Almond poppyseed cake with rasberry/cranberry filling. The kale, cranberries, and orange slices on the tray are real, but the turkey, wings, and stuffing are all cake. The stuffing is cubed pieces of cake toasted in the oven, the rest of the cake was carved up, covered in fondant with a little added texturing, and then airbrushed.
For a lovely, classy, big-hearted lady on her birthday right before Halloween, these sweet mummies come to celebrate. The top and bottom tier are lemon cake with Swiss meringue buttercream. The middle tier is vanilla with pineapple filling. The peonies and berries are all gumpaste.
